Hello all,
Through many ups, downs, and weird occurrences...I finally released a DVD through Eat3D on the introduction of 3D Studio Max. (see product description below) This 20+ hr DVD is targeted towards those who are new to 3D Studio Max or just want to brush up on a different area. It is also targeted toward those who like their lessons with a little more context than the current 101 series provides. While I found that it was impossible to include *everything* I wanted at the detail level I wanted, the DVD actually has far more information in it than what's currently out there including the series found here. Nothing like putting concepts into practice to add several hours to your lessons. Have a look and if you know anyone who could use it, let them know. ![]() Additionally, this is an Ego Farms creation and as such a portion of the profits goes to extending the Lounge and what we can offer/do here. --- official description --- In this demonstration the instructor dives into the wonderful world of computer graphics by walking the viewer through the many fundamental concepts and techniques necessary to create a successful project. He starts off with an around the world tour of the 3D Studio Max interface stopping at key areas to discuss proper viewport navigation, selecting objects, moving objects around your scene and combining basic shapes to flesh out an idea. Once the foundation is in place, the instructor takes the viewer through a wide range of techniques for modeling, texturing, lighting, and animating their creations to complete a city scene. The pros and cons of each method are discussed in detail and the viewer is given the context necessary to take the core techniques and apply them successfully to whatever their end goal or respective industry may be. This DVD has over 20 hours of training and can be considered the ultimate guide for those new to 3D Studio Max or those wanting to round out their skill set for any market.

That's great! So happy to hear that they helped.
One thing to watch out for is that the DVD's source files are for Max 2009. I've been meaning to try converting some to older versions but haven't had the time yet. Everything is built up through the tutorials themselves, but if you want to jump around you will have some difficulty using Max 8. |

I came here because I bought the 3Ds Max 101 DVD from Eat3d and loved it! I am not a beginner at 3Ds Max, but I often watch beginner tutorials to see if I pick up a tip or two that I didn't know about. I was amazed with how much I learned from Eric's 101 series about tools that I use all the time. I have watched many tutorials in the past, but definitely this is the best series for learning how to model with 3Ds Max! I thoroughly enjoyed each video, and feel that everything was explained extremely clearly.
I am wondering if there will ever be a more advanced series where more detail can be given on how to work with things such as cloth, hair and particle systems. These topics were only briefly shown in the tutorials, which is understandable for a series for beginners. There are a lot of tutorials out there that show how to learn modeling, and I am strong in this area. I can't find any in-depth tutorials that really go into the topic of hair/fur, cloth and particle systems, or Reactor. I have only seen tutorials that are not in-depth. Anyway, I would love to see more tutorials from Eric! ![]() Doug |

Gronichonha,
I go to buy the downloadable version Of Eric's tuto in Eat3D but I have a technical question (financial in fact) before. I'm french and have never bought in dollars. So how does it work? Actually 1 euro is near from 1.3 dollars. It likes if I had 30% of reduce. Is it the same in internet buying? Thanks. Bro' |

I think it depends on the exchange rate of your bank the money will come out of.

if there individual files you will have to create a DVD. Many software packages have the functionality to create them, not sure if windows movie maker does
? If they are avi you need software that will convert them to DVD format, nero and roxio have these features, theres also convertxtoDVD I think or it might be called xtodvd now. They are the simplist methods, but if you wanna be more technical you could use a converter and use manual settings, you could do this in premier, after effects or a more convenient converter such as adobe media encoder or Super v2010 (free and good). If however the files are mpegs, well really they are already DVD format with a different extension (although the codecs might mismatch, but in most causes its ok), you could just change the extension from mpeg to vob and then create a menu, i use encore for building menus but I'm sure there are free versions if you google around, i think nero will also let you do this but it could also try to re encode the files so be careful there.

I burned them all on 1 dvd. It's not more then 2 gig, so plenty of room. But that's ment to be played in a cd-rom drive on your pc. Some dvd players might play the video files as they're coded when they can read the folder structure of pc's. Otherwise you would have to use adobe encore, pinnacle studio or some other dvd authoring program to create a playable dvd, but that's gonna take a lot of time. And you would have to watch the dvd next to your pc anyway if you wanna use the project files to follow the course.
